The Olive Emerger is a top selling fly pattern here at Zinger Fishing. It works very well when the water is a little dark or murky after a decent rain. The yellow tail and top feathers are just enough to get the fish’s attention. The dark olive body will match the other insects in the water.
I am a huge fan of emergers, as are many other fly fishing anglers. Emergers work very well for when the fish are not biting flies from the surface. It can be a little tricky to know when a fish has taken your emerger, but if you see a swirl in the water near your hook, chances are that you have a fish on!
You want the emerger to either sit on the surface of the water or slightly below the surface. I would advise against using any flotant on your fly.
