I've had great success using this fly to get down deep. It has worked great when fishing in the middle of the day when the sun is high and fish are hanging close to the bottom. It has done well on deep sections of faster moving rivers as well as stillwater when I needed to get down deep.

I have been using bead head stoneflies and caddis nymphs for over 40years, in the streams, in New Jersey. They are the most common insects in our streams. I swear by them!

Use stonefly with small caddis 8" behind in fast water.

Beautiful cast and response! Use when top water action slows down.

Use this fly in the Calcurrupe River in the South of Chile with much success

There were sporadic STONEFLIES coming off all morning. I switched from a dry-dropper to this stonefly nymph. (Dead drifting and on the swing) I caught almost a dozen browns on this pattern in less than an hour and a half. Best of all, I caught them all on the same fly! I retied every fish or two. The same fly brought ten fish to hand. Excellent quality! Highly recommend.

Got this pattern to go with the Stonefly hatch this summer. I plan to use it before the bugs start rising. I think the pattern should compliment my dry fly stonefly perfectly!
